Jquery Image Switcher
I’ve been putting some thought into the redesign of my Portfolio site. One of the important things to do with a portfolio is, quite naturally, display your latest work. People are coming up with more and more creative/unique/different ways to do this and it’s something that I wanted to do myself. A lot of people make use of impressive rotators or lightboxes to display their work, I’ve even done so myself in the past. This time I felt like doing something different.
After taking a look around the internet I found myself really liking the way that Symphony CMS provides a series of screenshots of their software. There was only one problem that I had with this, it’s a static image. Whilst that isn’t a problem for something like their CMS, as it is only updated periodically, as someone with multiple projects currently it would get quite tedious to continually be editing a static image. This required me to think about howelse I could implement a similar design whilst keeping it dynamic.
In the end I settled upon using a combination of CSS and Jquery, using CSS to position elements and Jquery to enhance the functionality. The link above is a basic implementation of what I am looking for, but you should be able to see what I am aiming for with it. Oh, and try clicking the different images.
Something to Say?
I love hearing from people that have something to say on a topic, but I have come to the conclusion that comments on my site aren't the best way to do this. If you have something you'd like to contribute to the conversation why not write a short article on your own site, or tweet about it? If you put something online, or want to comment on things, feel free to fire a tweet my way.
